Description
This recipe aims to replicate the iconic Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich, featuring a juicy, tender chicken breast seasoned and fried to perfection, served on a buttered bun with pickles.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup dill pickle juice
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- Peanut oil or vegetable oil for frying
- 4 buttered brioche buns
- 4–8 dill pickle chips
Instructions
- Cut each chicken breast in half horizontally to create thinner cutlets.
- Place chicken cutlets in a bowl and pour pickle juice over them. Marinate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, in the refrigerator.
- In a shallow dish, whisk together flour, powdered sugar, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- In another shallow dish, whisk together eggs and milk.
- Remove chicken from pickle juice and pat dry with paper towels.
- Dredge each chicken cutlet in the flour mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Dip the floured chicken into the egg mixture, letting any excess drip off.
- Dredge the chicken back into the flour mixture, pressing firmly to create a thick coating.
- Heat about 2-3 inches of oil in a heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place 2 chicken cutlets into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot.
- Fry for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).
- Remove chicken from oil and place on a wire rack to drain.
- Lightly toast the buttered brioche buns.
- Place pickle chips on the bottom half of each bun.
- Top with a fried chicken cutlet and the top half of the bun.
Notes
- Ensure the oil temperature is maintained at 350°F for optimal crispiness.
- Patting the chicken dry after marinating is crucial for the coating to adhere well.
- Adjust cayenne pepper to your spice preference.
- For an authentic taste, use dill pickle juice for marinating.
